As the New Year approaches I reflect on the inspiration closer to home

As the new year approaches I thought about the focus of this blog. I created the blog to highlight various women of color who are making strides, pushing the envelope and exude strength becoming beacons of hope for our young ladies coming up behind them. I often call out women who are celebrities, authors, writers, film makers, artists, musicians, etc. Well I also need to point out that there are usually these very same women within our own families. These magnificent women are often missed and mistaken. It could be the great-grandmother who helped raise you when you rmother faught through college to make a better life for her family, or the aunt who provided a nurturing environment looking after not just her own children but also encouraging her niece, or a sister who constantly shows support and lends an ear during times of strain. The cousins who push to find ways to better their lives and shine their beacon of light on those around them. All these women are blessings in my own life and hopefully you can recall some of those ladies in your own life.
